Own bonded warehouse

self-use bonded warehouse · private bonded warehouse · own bonded storage

A bonded facility a company licenses and runs for the cargo it handles itself. Korean law calls it a self-use bonded warehouse, as distinct from a commercial one that stores other parties' goods for a fee.

The notice defines it as a licensed bonded area for storing the operator's own cargo — goods the operator owns or uses. On the ground it is simply called one's own storage yard. How it differs from a commercial warehouse - Commercial bonded warehouse — storing import and export cargo is the *business*. It holds other people's goods - Self-use bonded warehouse — the operator stores the cargo it handles itself Both require a licence from the head of customs. Neither can simply be opened. Bonded areas come in three kinds - Designated — designated by customs: designated storage yards, customs inspection areas - Licensed — bonded warehouses (commercial and self-use), bonded factories, exhibition sites, construction sites, duty-free shops - Comprehensive An own bonded warehouse is the self-use kind of licensed bonded warehouse. Why it affects clearance speed Renting space in somebody else's warehouse means waiting your turn in their queue, and asking through an intermediary when a shipment stops. Running your own means seeing it and acting on it directly. We file the entry and release reports ourselves, and talk to customs directly. HubNet Logistics runs its own express clearance centres at Incheon Airport and Incheon Port, and holds licensed bonded areas at Incheon Port and Gimpo.
